What kind of algae, macro algae, or kelp can you grow for fish food, and which is the best to grow? I'm curious about growing some with my saltwater crabs, so fill me in on some details if you would. Thanks!

Pretty much crabs are scavengers, and should eat what you throw in the tank. Unless they see it growing in there and decide they don't want to eat it anymore. Some can be lil picky bastards, so you'll just have to watch em, see what they will go after. You'll also need to feed em meat.

Ignoring the crabs' diet for a moment - which algae could I culture to feed other fish (both freshwater [the main ones for now] and future salty ones should I get some)? I'm thinking if the crabs don't eat it I could dry it (harvest it) and add to the diet of my other animals

Dont know what you could feed fresh water fish.
Tangs will eat algae that which they don't see everyday. So, they will eat Chaeto, Caulerpa, Graciliara, and of the such.

Thanks RM. I know many people feed Nori, but I have yet to actually find a place / someone that can supply me some that's live.

No one that I know of feeds live Nori, they get theirs in sheets like we all do.

Yep, but I (at one point in the past) was hoping to source some live so I could try culturing it on a small scale and dry it for use later. Sort of like I want to do now, except I know Nori is pretty much out of the question.

Do you only feed organic, or does it really concern you that much?
